Risk Analysis and Management Education

Mike Jerbic has led the development of the Open FAIR Quantitative cyber risk analysis standards and has contributed to guides and white papers expanding upon how that standard is used.  In his role as lecturer at San Jose State University, he has trained and certified undergraduate economics students in Open FAIR.  He is a recognized expert in cyber risk analysis, Open FAIR certification training, and in architecting and directing cyber risk analysis teams. When he lectured at San Jose State University he trained 30 undergraduate economics students who achieved their certifications.  Many of those went on to start careers in risk analysis and management.

The training below can be customized to any set of learning objectives and outcome.  Delivery is flexible:  on site or remote.  Please contact us to put together a training package that meets your requirements.  These training options can also apply to a continuing education program at a university.

Open FAIR Certification

The Open FAIRTM Certification Training course is vendor, tool, and technology neutral to give students the foundational material needed to pass the Open FAIRTM Certification Exam and advance careers in quantitative risk analysis using any tool deployed in their workplace. The course strictly adheres to and directly uses the Open FAIRTM industry standards.

  • Accurately articulate cyber risk in the same terms and metrics as other enterprise risks.
  • Apply industry standard risk analysis techniques to support cyber risk management decision making.
  • Correctly use FAIR terms, definitions, and relationships to define, decompose, and model cyber risk scenarios.
  • Quantitatively estimate risk factors associated with modeled scenarios
  • Utilize available tools to quantify cyber risk in economic, business risk terms, just as any other enterprise risk.
  • Select and interpret results to inform and support executive risk management decision making.
  • Rigorously defend analytic processes and results to subject matter experts who may challenge those techniques or results.
  • Pass the Open FAIRTM Foundation Certification Exam

Courses are delivered online or onsite.  Onsite instruction is available with a six person minimum enrollment.

The course can be customized to individual client requirements including using a client’s specific risk scenario as a course example and applying a client’s control framework to the risk analysis standard.
