Knowledge Management

Mike Jerbic co-chairs with Jane Winn from the University of Washington Law School the Information Governance Work Group in the Cyberspace Law Committee of the American Bar Association.  That committee look at how technology platforms and tools are changing the nature of security and privacy compliance.  This work is ongoing and “bleeding edge,” which makes  this page “under construction.”

Mike’s interest and personal research is in developing a sustainable, self-reinforcing knowledge governance model that lets boards and management govern with confidence the knowledge they and their organizations use to inform decisions.  The key requirements this model must meet and reflect are

  • The model must align with the inherent economics of the information or knowledge being governed.
  • Technology choices can change the economics of that information
  • Law and the role of lawyers in making and enforcing social policy that also respects the inherent economics of information production and consumption while articulating social problems that come with that production and consumption.

The scope of a consulting engagements is, by nature, flexible, and this area is brand new.  I hope you’ll return to see more as this service area gets flushed out.
